I’ve been incredibly productive these past few days, and even have some fresh poetry with which I am relatively satisfied! Since I’m busy writing, I thought I’d share a glimpse at what else I’m creating: a vegetable patch! Check out my lettuce – compliments of our cold frame.

Hey, that’s cool! How late can you plant lettuce? I really meant to garden some this summer. I hope it’s not too late!
Spyscribbler, Sorry for the late response… I’m still a beginning gardener, and this is the most success I’ve ever had with lettuce. My understanding is that lettuce is a coldcrop, so that means once it gets too warm, the lettuce is going to want to go to seed (which means less leafy greens). The cilantro, arugula, and many of my herbs are already trying to do this. So far, my lettuce is still leafy and crisp – but we haven’t hit the big heatwaves yet. I’ve also sown a fresh round of lettuce seeds in the cold frame, so I’ll be sure to mention whether they grow!
