Comic abstraction at MoMA

Looking for something different?  Check out the online exhibit portion of the Comic Abstraction exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art.  Each piece of artwork is supplemented online with information about its themes, background, and significance.

Apart from cartoons, I have never been especially engaged with comic art.  A good friend of mine is a serious comic aficionado, and getting to know her introduced me to what a massive world comic art really is.  If you want to connect comic art with urban art, that world gets even bigger.

If you’re interested, visit the exhibit and take the time to read a little more about a couple of the selected works.  How do you respond to the art?  How do you feel about some of the artists’ interpretations of the roles and influence of comics in contemporary culture?
